Frequently asked questions.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance directly, although you may be able to access your benefits with me as an out-of-network provider. Always check with your insurance provider first. I am happy to provide a receipt of services (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
What age clients do you see?
I work with adults (18 years of age or older), from young adults to young-at-heart and wise elders. I have extensive experience with younger adults (20s & 30s) through my work at universities.
Do you only see queer / LGBTQ+ clients?
No, I enjoy working with anyone who is a good fit for my specialties. I believe my lived experience and expertise working with marginalized and oppressed people enhances my work with everyone. If you’re wondering if we may be a good fit, contact me.
What are the steps to getting started?
I know starting therapy can be a difficult. You’re already many steps into your healing journey by being here. To see if we’re a good fit, you can message or call me, or schedule a free 15 min consultation. Click here to read more.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 48 hours cancellation policy, which means you will be charged for a session if canceling within 48 hours of our scheduled time. I understand emergencies happen so please communicate with me if you need to reschedule.
How long are sessions?
Regular sessions are 50 minutes. Sessions can be arranged to be longer on a case by case basis. Fees for longer sessions must be arranged.
How long will I be in therapy?
This is a great question with no one answer. Some clients enter therapy with specific goals that they feel they meet in a handful of sessions, while others feel better after 1-3 months. Some clients approach the therapeutic relationship as one they return to during particularly stressful periods, and may see me for a time, be good on their own, and then return when they feel they need more support. Our relationship could last anywhere from a few sessions to continuing for years.
I want you to make progress toward your goals, and we can always discuss what timeframe you are hoping for.
What is PSYPACT?
PSYPACT is an interstate compact which offers a voluntary expedited pathway for practice to qualified psychologists who wish to practice in multiple states. PSYPACT is designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology and the temporary in-person, face-to-face practice of psychology across state boundaries. In order to practice telepsychology in PSYPACT states, psychologists licensed in PSYPACT states only, can apply to the PSYPACT Commission for an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT). In order to conduct temporary practice in PSYPACT states, psychologists licensed in PSYPACT states only can apply to the PSYPACT Commission for a Temporary Authorization to Practice (TAP). The PSYPACT Commission is the governing body of PSYPACT and is comprised of one representative from each PSYPACT state. More information regarding PSYPACT and its requirements can be found at www.psypact.org.
